Festival of Health set in Wadena
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the year’s biggest health fair in Wadena. The 20th annual February Festival of Health is a communitywide health fair to be held Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Minnesota State Community & Technical College (M-State) in Wadena.
This free event offers more than 80 exhibits by local businesses and organizations. Each booth provides hands-on learning and an opportunity to become familiar with the many resources available for you and your family’s health, well-being and safety.
Health screenings include: blood pressure, body fat analysis, video otoscopy (ears), diabetes blood glucose test and cholesterol testing. All screenings are free, except for the cholesterol test. The Wadena County Soil & Water Conservation District will also be conducting free water testing, so bring a sample of your water.
Lunch is available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the cafeteria for a fee. Throughout the day, free entertainment and demonstrations will take place in the cafeteria. They will include dance performances by Wadena-Deer Creek Wee Kix, Tiny Kix, Wee Petites, Mini Kix, and Middle Kix; Tae Kwon Do demonstrations by Mid- Minnesota Tae Kwon Do; caricatures drawn by Doug Curtis; and kid’s activities, such as face painting and balloons.
One of the featured events is the Community Baby Shower, sponsored by Tri-County Hospital’s Obstetrics Department. More than $200 in prizes will be given away to eligible mothers who’ve received a special invitation from Tri-County Hospital.
This year’s grand prize, “A Evening Out on the Town,” includes onenight’s stay at the AmericInn in Wadena, a $25 gift certificate at The Uptown restaurant and two movie passes for the Cozy Theatre, compliments of these businesses.
The health fair is sponsored by Tri-County Health Care, Tri-County Hospital Foundation, KWAD/KNSP/ K106, and M-State, Wadena campus.
