(Submitted photo) A unique collaboration has resulted in a locally staged and produced series of cooking shows to be aired on the Staples cable television channel 8.

Staples Motley Community Education, the City of Staples, T Maxwell’s Restaurant and the Central Lakes College videography class came together to create “Cooking with Kevin” featuring T Maxwell’s executive chef Kevin Aho.

All six shows will air at noon every Wednesday in February on cable television channel 8. This is the local public access channel know as the PEG channel. PEG stands for public, education and government. The City of Staples manages the channel which is provided by Charter Communications.

The “Cooking with Kevin” series was filmed by CLC students in videography. Students Jessica Murdock of Staples, Amber Hulke of Nisswa and Amanda Johnson and Kevin Ballinger of Aitkin, along with instructor Leon Dahlvang, worked with Aho in the development of these videos.

“This project was put together as an assignment given to the students in their video editng class,” Dahlvang said.

Each show instructs the viewers on how to prepare some French and Italian entrees. They include Chicken Chasseur, Bruschetta, Champagne Chicken, Con Pollos Chicken and Pan Seared Steak with a brandied cream sauce.

Four of the episodes feature local guests Bev Nelsen, Jim Jeziorski, Michelle Jeziorski and Bob Hamann. Alan Judd of Community Education provided the introduction.

The CLC Communication Art and Design program has included video production in its curriculum for several years. Starting with the 2010 fall term, the college will offer a twoyear Videography Productions degree with diploma option.
