Julia Palmer Two Staples community residents have been elected to serve three-year terms on the Central Lakes College Foundation Board of Directors.

Julia Palmer and Brad Anderson join the 21-person board of the non-profit organization responsible for providing scholarships and other student financial support at the community and technical college in Brainerd and Staples.

Palmer is director of public relations, marketing and The Heritage Program at First International Bank and Trust, Staples. She has been with the company since 1993.

During her undergraduate studies at University/College Northampton, England, Palmer’s academic concentration was on business operations management, business management, office management and accounting, public relations, marketing international management and technology and marketing automation.

Anderson is director of product and service development at Lakewood Health System, Staples, where has been employed since 2005. Prior to that, he was a manager in software development at BISYS Retirement Services, Baxter.

Brad Anderson He earned his BA in financial economics from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter.

“We welcome our two newest members to our board,” said Diane Scearcy, foundation executive director. “Without their support, the foundation couldn’t provide financial assistance to students at our Brainerd and Staples campuses.

“Through the generosity of our community we are awarding nearly $285,000 in student scholarships during 2009-10.”

Each year the foundation serves at least 350 students.

During fall semester nearly $25,000 in Random Acts

of Kindness awards - for emergency and book assistance - were awarded to students with need. “This is beyond

the $285,000 provided to students through scholarships,” Scearcy said.
