B-squad cage girls are 10-1 this season
The Staples Motley Bsquad girls defeated Minnewaska 53-25 in their Jan. 8 game.
Scoring for the Cardinals were Jaelin Beachy 11, Mikayla Wing 10, Kelsey Rice 8, Kelly Pearson 7, Kyla Anthony 6, Jenna Ziegler 2 and Jasmine McGillvray 2.
In other games played earlier this season, the Bsquad girls :
-Defeated Pillager 58-21; Detroit Lakes- 51-32; Pequot Lakes- 64-43; Frazee -56-26; ; and Bemidji-45-43 and lost to W-DC 46-43.
Against Bemidji, everyone on the team played very well. Mackenzie Holst made back to back three pointers to put us up by two for the win. Leading scorers were: Kelly Pearson -17 pts; Brooke Wolhowe-8; Mikayla Wing-8; and Mackenzie Holst-7.
Against Holdingford, Jasmine McGillvray had a great offensive game. She made eight, three pointers and ended the game with 29 points. Mikayla had a great defensive game she turned steals into easy layups and ended the game with 15 points. Leading scorers: Jasmine-29; Mikayla-15; Kyla-7; Kelly-5.
Big Lake (46-29) was a big win for the team. Everyone played well. Brooke did a good job rebounding and putting it back up for easy points. Jaelin had a good game, shooting well. Leading scorers: Jaelin-14; Kelly-13; Brooke-10; Jasmine 4; Mikayla-3.
The B-squad took first place in the Little Falls holiday tournament with a 41- 26 win over Little Falls. The girls played very well. We scored 30 first half points. Jasmine had four, three pointers in the game. Mikayla played great defense and turned steals into easy baskets. Leading scorers: Jasmine-14; Mikayla-8; Kelly 5.
The girls defeated Park Rapids 56-20, on Jan. 5. Leading scorers were Jasmine 13; Jaelin-11; Jenna-8; Kelly-7; Brooke-6; Kelsey-5.
