Staples library closing one week for move

(Staples World photo by Tom Crawford) The Staples Public Library will be closed Monday, Jan. 25 through Saturday, Jan. 30 to move to its new location.

The library will reopen on Monday, Feb. 1 at a new city hall/library building at 122 6th St. NE, Staples.

Requested (hold) items that have arrived at the library will be available at the current location through Tuesday, Jan. 26. Patrons will be notified by email or phone if items are available for them. No other materials will be available for checkout on those days. There will be no checkout of materials from Wednesday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, Jan. 30.

Please do not return any items to the current library building after Saturday, Jan. 23. After that date, please return all materials to the new location on or after Feb. 1. Overdue fines will be suspended for the week the library is closed in between vacating the old building and opening in the new building.

Library service through Great River Regional Library (GRRL) will continue to be available at libraries in Eagle Bend, Little Falls and elsewhere. Consult the library’s website at www.griver.org for open hours and locations of other GRRL libraries.

Library hours are Mon. and Wed. 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tue. and Thur. 2-8 p.m., Fri. 1-5 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new building will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25. Tours of city offices and the library will be given following the ceremony. Other special library events are planned through Saturday, Feb. 27.
