New Year’s blue moon
The full moon on Dec. 30 was big and full, more than fitting for the second one this month, which makes it a blue moon. A blue moon is the “extra” full moon in years that have 13 full moons. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly. This one, coming at New Year’s, was a once-in a generation event, not a once in a blue moon event.
