The Staples Motley Cardinal girls basketball team downed Holdingford 69-35 to close out the pre-holiday girls basketball schedule on, Dec. 22.

The girls led by just six point - 3 0 - 2 4 at halftime, but all owed the Husker girls just 11 second half points while scoring 39.

The Staples Motley girls took a Christmas break before competing Dec. 29 and 30 in the Little Falls Holiday tournament. They played Big Lake in the Tuesday game.

The 5-2 Cardinals received 22 points from Kelly Pearson, 18 from Ashley Lisson and 13 points from Nikki Pearson. Kelly and Nikki Pearson each hit three 3-point baskets for the Cards .

Lisson had 18 points and ten rebounds

After seven games, Nikki Pearson and Caitlyn Robinson lead the team in scoring with 84 and 82 points each. Pearson is scoring 12 points a game, with Robinson at 11.7.

Ashley Lisson is the next highest with 61 points.

Nikki Pearson also leads the team in assists with 40, in steals with 29 and she has three blocked shots.

Leading rebounder for the girls is Bobbi Jo Mathe with 53 boards. Robinson has 38, followed by Nikki Pearson with 31 and Lisson with 28.
