‘09 Sports highlights


One of the sports highlights of 2009 for the Staples Motley Cardinals was their fifth place team finish at state girls tennis tournament and third place finish for Emma Koskiniemi and Skye Coughlin in the doubles portion of the individual play. Other sports highlights included an undefeated Cardinal football season, state team appearance for the Cardinal boys cross country team, and individual state appearances for several athletes, including golfers Cydney Hasselberg and Nick Forsberg, Jordan Peterson in tennis and track athletes Ashley Lisson, Kelly Pearson, Brooke Simonson and Jason Johnson. Jordan Bendson finished second at state wrestling, while Jaelin Beachy qualified for state swimming and Emma Pogreba and Kaytlin Roth qualified for state cross country.
