Minnesota Energy gas rates lowered
      The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) has approved new final natural gas rates effective Jan. 1, 2010 for customers of Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation.

Requests for help with energy bills is higher
      Over 930 households have been assisted by the Energy Program in Wadena County this season, comparing to 841 households receiving help at the same time last year. The grants received range from $100 to $1,400.

Volunteers needed to provide 100,000 meals
      In February hundreds of Staples Motley area residents will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between Staples Motley community church organizations and Twin Cities-based Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), volunteers will prepare 100,000 life-saving meals.

Newlyweds join rural internship program at Staples
      Lakewood Health System (LHS) is once again hosting two Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP) students. Since October, Chad and Katie Norris have been shadowing and practicing with LHS Family Medicine Physicians, Dr. Christine Albrecht and Dr. David Freeman.
