Kayden Hansen

Kayden Andrew Hansen, died Dec. 16, 2009 at the Gillette Children Hospital in St. Paul.

Funeral services were held Dec. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris with Rev. Rob Jarvis officiating. Burial was in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Arrangements were with the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.

Kayden was born on April 23, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria to Bethany Hansen. Together with his mother, they made their home with his grandparents, Ardyn and Lorie Hansen in Alberta.

Kayden was baptized into the Lutheran faith on May 3, 2009, by Reverend Rob Jarvis at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. At Kayden’s four month check-up, he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, and it was learned that Kayden’s life span would be very short. He would never have the ability to walk.

Kayden is survived by his mother, grandparents: one aunt, Nicole Hansen of Alberta; great-grandparents:

Lee and Pat Schmidtbauer

of Alexandria and Melvin “Smiley” and Jolene Hansen

of Staples and great great-grandmother, Jane Jankowsky of Park Rapids.

Kayden was preceded in death by great great-grandparents: Ed Jankowsky, Leo and Eleanor Schmidtbauer, Myrtle and Ivan Hansen and Jens and Mary Jensen.

Pallbearers were Mark Schmidtbauer, Scott Schmidtbauer, Adam Hansen and Tyler Schmidtbauer. Honorary pallbearers were Kayden’s Baptismal Sponsors: Kyle Koenig, Ashley Schmidtbauer, Evonne Schmidtbauer, Shawn Voss and Nicole Hansen.
