Donald D. Olds, 68, of Staples, died Dec. 18, 2009 at his home following a long struggle with Systemic Scleroderma.

Funeral services were held Dec. 22, at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Burial with full military honors was in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Donald was born July 5, 1941, in Belle Fourche, S.D. to George and Leona (McCamish) Olds. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Upon graduating from Sebeka High School he entered the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. He married Renee Larson on Jan. 28, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. He worked for the City of Staples for 29 years, retiring in 2004.

Donald is survived by his wife, one daughter, Shari (Steve) Fellman; one son, Brian (Tasha) Olds both of Staples; one brother, Jack (Char) Olds of Owatonna; four grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Max and Bob.
