Wilfrid Champagne

Wilfrid Louis Champagne, 83, of Blaine died Nov. 29, 2009

Memorial services were held Dec. 1 at Christ Lutheran Church in Blaine.

Wilfrid was born Sept. 5, 1926, to Wilfrid and Louise (Gollner) Champagne. After moving to Minnesota as a young child, he grew up on the family farm in the Leader area. He married Bonita Ryan, in 1947. He moved to the Twin Cities for work. In 1971, he bought a farm in the Leader area.

After the sudden death of his first wife, he married Myrtice and live in the Twin Cities with his family until retirement and moved to Kerrick. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, picking wild berries, growing and preserving food from a large organic garden and being active in his church. His declining health required him to return to the Twin Cities where he resided until his death.

Wilfrid is survived by his wife three sons, Wilfrid; Bryan (Deidre); Douglas (Heidi); two daughters, Linda (Dean) Brotherton; Annette (Marty) Stover; two sisters, Pauline (Ken); Lease; three sisters-in-law, Judy, Mary and Arlette (Tony); mother-in-law Arline Pederson; several nieces, nephews and many gradchildren and greagrandchildren; and one great great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, one daughter, Brenda; parents; two brothers, Albert and Richard; two sisters, Genevieve and Dorothy;
