Lawrence H. Hall, 83, of Motley, and formerly of Staples died Nov. 14, 2009 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples.

Funeral services will be held Thursday Nov. 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.

Lawrence was born Jan. 13, 1926, at home in Staples Township to Henry and Alice (Haugen) Hall. He married Marilyn Gibbs on April 5, 1950, in Staples. He worked as a mechanic and as a custodian for the Staples Schools for 20 years before retirement.

Lawrence loved visiting, joking, kidding and teasing which was always a part of the conversation. He spent time tinkering with engines of all types. He enjoyed listening to old time country music and dancing.

Lawrence is survived by his wife; three sons, Blain of Long Prairie; Gordon (Nancy) of Fergus Falls; Bryan (Renee) of Staples; one daughter, Sandra Bryce (Merle) of Sartell; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren, Carmen and Kevin Sowers; four sisters, Lavina (Herman) Hitzmann of Woodbury, Norma Minor of Hibbing, Lois (Roy) Mertens of Staples, Lorraine Mertens of Hibbing; two brothers, Leonard (Helen) of Staples, Lloyd of Staples; and many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.
