National Anthem

 The Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Jeff Iverson; and the Staples Motley High School Choir, led by Steve Hoemberg, invited the public to join in the singing of the National Anthem at the Veteran's Day program at SMHS Nov. 11. Other events on the program included posting of the colors by the Motley American Legion Post #124; introductory remarks by Hoemberg; student speeches (read by speech teacher Bob Shaffer); the Pledge of Allegiance led by Connie Hoffert; a performance by the high school orchestra; staff speeches by Gloria Palmer and Kerry Lindgren; veteran speakers Hap Corbett (Korean War) and Wayne Mensen (Iraqi Freedom vet); a moment of silence followed by 'Taps;' and a gathering in the cafeteria at the close of the ceremony.
