A rededication, she continued, is a ceremony for girls who have already been invested.
Johnson reported that since last year, the Girl Scout troop in Motley has more than doubled in size.
"This is very exciting,"
she said at the ceremony. "I'm glad to welcome returning
Girl Scouts; and it's great to see so many new faces as well...we're going to have a great year."
As part of the ceremony, the 20 girls in the Daisy and Brownie programs (from grades K - 3) sang songs, recited vows; and received special pins for pledging to be Girl Scouts. A potluck dinner followed the ceremony.
Johnson leads the Daisies; and fellow troop leader Sherri Wolpert is in charge of the Brownies. Meetings are held every Thursday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Motley.
"Other troops meet on various days, times and at different places," Johnson said. "We currently have 14 troops between Motley, Staples and Verndale."
Troops are usually formed by girls in the same
grade level: Daisies (K - 1);
Brownies (2 - 3); Juniors (4 - 5); Cadettes (6 - 8); Seniors
(9 - 10); and Ambassadors (11 - 12).
Upcoming events for Troop 136 include a Girl Scout sleep-over Dec. 4; and Christmas caroling.
