Raymond Sandberg

Raymond Charles Sandberg, 74, of Bertha, died Nov. 6, 2009, at his home in Germania Township.

Funeral services were Nov. 10, at the Domian- Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha with Reverend Mark Brown officiating. Burial was in Zoar Cemetery located in Germania Township, rural Bertha. Military honors were provided by the Minnesota ARNG Honor Guard.

Arrangements were with the Domain-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha.

Raymond was born Oct. 28, 1935 in Staples to Clarence and Frances (Hopp) Sandberg. He graduated from high school, and served his country in the U.S. Army on May 24, 1956 and was honorably discharged on May 7, 1958.

He married Ruth Zimmerman at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley on June 10, 1961. Together they operated a farm in Germania Township. He enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards and watching his grandchildren's ball games and activities.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 48 years; one son Larry (Leslie) Sandberg of Staples; 11 grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; one brother Robert (Glenda) Sandberg of Longview, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Nancy Sandberg of Bertha; and many nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Linda Sandberg and Lucy Kirscht; one brother Richard Sandberg; and one daughter-in-law, Lisa (Edwards) Sandberg.

Honorary pallbearers were Kayla Kirscht, Ashley Fisher, Amber Kirscht, Ariana Sandberg, Sienna Sandberg, Tahlia Sandberg, Kiarra Sandberg, Rachel Walker and Dani Henderson.

Pallbearers were Elliott Sandberg, Andrew Kirscht, Erich Kirscht, Josiah Sandberg, Patrick Walker and Jeremy Fisher.
