It was a big night for Cardinal eighth grader Jaelin Beachy, who earned two All Conference honors at the Mid State Confer- ence Oct. 30, in Detroit Lakes.

Beachy took first in both the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke, which, according to Coach Bruce Onischuk, "...was probably the most exciting race of the night."

The race was extremely tight right from the start to finish, Onischuk said. "Jaelin came out on top to earn All Conference honors. Her final time was 1:11.06 - a personal best time." There wasn't much time or space separating the swimmers, the coach added. "Second place was 1:11.20 and third was 1:11.33."

Some last minute adjustments

had to be made due

to illness, Onischuk said. "Unfortunately, we had

to scratch two relays and some individual events."

With Lynnea Iverson out sick, Sarah Holm was moved from freestyle to backstroke and Cierra Wavereck filled her spot. "Our medley relay swam quite well," Onischuk said.

Other notable performances included a sixth place finish by Elodie Grelle in the 100 yard butterfly.

"She had a great

swim," Onischuk said. "She was seeded at 1:18.90

and her final time was 1:15.60...a very nice time drop," he added.

Abby Holm swam a personal best by dropping some time in the 50 freestyle, the coach noted; and Sarah Paskewitz had an exceptional time drop in the 200 yard freestyle. "Her previous best time was 2:45; and her final time was 2:35.96. Needless to say, everyone was happy for Sarah," Onischuk said.

The following Cardinals will head to the section meet in Sartell Nov. 13 and 14: Jaelin Beachy, Elodi Grelle, Lynnea Iverson,

Cierra Wavereck, Sarah

Paskewitz and Sarah Holm. "We may bring two more

swimmers; but I'm not sure at this time," Coach Oniscuk said.
