Iness Luvina Allee

Iness Luvina Allee, 95, of Duluth, formerly of Motley, died, Oct. 20, 2009 at her home. 

Funeral services were Oct. 23, 2009 at the Alliance Community Church in Duluth.Burial was in  Oneota Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Bell Brothers Funeral Home, West Duluth.

Iness was born in Iowa Oct. 8, 1914 to Arthur and Mahala (Woolery) Collison. As a young child her family moved by covered wagon to Opstead, where she was raised. On Feb. 3, 1937 Iness married Ernest E. Allee. They were married for 72 years. They resided in Motley, until moving to Duluth in 1963. In Duluth she performed day work for the Hartley and Whitney families for many years. At age 81 and for the next 11 years Iness worked for the Skywalk Express.

Iness was an active and dedicated member of Alliance Community Church. She also was an active volunteer for Awana Group until 92 years of age and was involved with the Gideon’s Women’s Auxiliary.  Her heart was in her own personal ministry making quilts for the Union Gospel Mission and the Salvation Army.

Iness loved crocheting, knitting, quilting and participating in craft sales. 

Iness is survived by two daughters, Laura Lee, Elnora Gulbranson of Duluth; Ruth (Bob) McCauley of Duluth; one son,  Richard (Juanita) Allee of Wayzata; one daughter-in-law, Janet Allee of Baxte; 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Allee of Motley.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Albert and Leonard and one daughter, Dorothy Moneta.
