Glen Alen Erbe, 70, of Rainy River Ontario, Canada, died Oct. 4, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Rainy River Hospital.

Memorial services will be held in November at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. The date and time will be announced later.

Glen was born in Staples May 27, 1939, to Harry and Margaret (Cruse) Erbe. He graduated from Staples High School, Class of 1957. In 1962, he married Marilyn Martin of Staples. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Glen worked in Minneapolis for Control Data. He moved to Canada working for fly-in-fishing services. In 2000, he was employed with Marvin Windows in Warroad until his health began to fail. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

Glen is survived by one son, Chad of Warroad; one daughter, Brenda of Big Lake; one brother, Lynn (Dey Sey) of Lincoln, Neb. ; three sisters, Gale (Gordon) Martin of Pillager; Marge (Frank) Moriarity of St. Bonifcius; LaRee (Bob) Shebeck of Minnetonka; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lena; his parents and one sister, Marlene Betts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
