Candidate forum set

The Staples Community Foundation has scheduled a candidate forum for Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Staples Motley High School cafeteria.

Two candidates have filed for mayor of the City of Staples. Terry Minnick has joined the race against incumbent Chris Etzler.

Mike Isenberg is one of four candidates running for three seats on the Staples City Council. The others are the incumbents, Roy Miles, Joel Quance and Rob Schmieg.

The City of Staples candidates portion of the forum is from 7-8 p.m.

Seven candidates are running for three seats on the Staples Motley School Board. Brad Anderson, Carrie Beachy, Frank Odell and Brian Smith have joined incumbents Roy DiGiovanni, Mary Freeman and Barb Schmitt in the race.

The school board portion of the forum is from 8-9:30 p.m.

The forum will be broadcast on Channel 8, the Staples cable television access channel. Questions will be taken from the audience and from those calling in.

Brenda Halvorson, general manager of the Staples World, is the moderator.
