Pipeline repairs

Crews from the InterCon Construction Company from Madison, Wisc., began making repairs on an 18- inch Koch Pipeline in the Staples area last week. An inspection using a 'smart pig' sent through the pipeline detected a possible deterioration in the pipe in two locations near Staples. One (above) is along Eighth Street N.E. near the Staples Alliance Church, with the other along Highway 10 about 1-1/2 miles east of Staples. Shane Compton, an inspector with the Tulsa Inspection Co., Inc. said they expected to be working on the first pipe for at least a week. In most cases, sleeve will be welded over the existing pipe to reinforce previous welds.
