During the Oct. 6 board meeting, Wadena County Highway Engineer Joel Ulring announced his resignation, effective Oct. 23, 2009. Jody Yeager, LPN, administered a shot of the flu vaccine to Doris Corbett on Sept. 24. This vaccine was for the seasonal flu, which is a vaccine available now. A flu-like illness is hitting local schools this past week, and is suspected to be H1N1. Math test scores at Staples Motley Schools have improved enough that the district is no longer on the No Child Left Behind Act list for not making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in math.
