Dale Carlson
Dale Carlson, 75, of Pillager, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, in International Falls.
Funeral services were Sept. 12, 2009, 1 p.m. at the first Lutheran Church in Pillager. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Dale was born May 27, 1934 to George and Clara (Lucas) Carlson. He married Barbara Allen, June 16, 1956 in Pillager. He worked at the creamery in Pillager becoming manager. In 1973, he moved to their farm and served Sylvan Township for 17 years. Then worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement.
He enjoyed the farm, raising goats, llamas, dogs and purebred Angus cattle, driving his tractor, making hay and helping neighbors. He also enjoyed gathering mushrooms, fishing and especially bear hunting on his land near International Falls.
Dale is survived by his wife of 53 years; two daughters, Suzette Carlson and Dena Carlson both of Pillager; one son, Donald “Butch” Carlson of Pillager; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Marie Pietz of Pillager; Marion (Dave) Mertens of Wadena; Carol Mertens (Art Farber) of Staples; three brothers, Dennis (Jean) of South Haven; Joe (Linda) of Motley; Jim (Mary) of Staples; one sister-in-law, Dee Carrlson of Motley; many nices nephews and friends. Special friend, Robert Mudgett, Dale’s right hand man, and Daile’s co-pilot, Buster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Donette, one brother, George Carlson II; and one brother-in-law, Albert Pietz.
