Girl Scouts award Megan Han, 12, of Staples, was the first Girl Scout in Staples to receive a 'Thin Mint Patch,' after successfully completing the 'Thin Mint Sprint Marathon.' A total of 26.2 miles (walking, jogging, jumping or skipping) is required to receive a patch. Megan began the marathon Aug. 1 and finished Aug. 22; walking her dog Riley two miles every morning at six. Megan is a 7th grader at Motley Staples Middle School and a member of Girl Scouts Troop #955. It's not too late for others to receive a patch, Megan said, adding that Girl Scouts have until Sept. 30 to complete the marathon.
