Six seeking City of Staples offices
There will be contests for both the three Staples City Council seats and the City of Staples mayor's position in this year's general election Nov. 3.
Filing in the final week, which closed at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, were Mike Isenberg and Robb Schmieg for city council and Chris Etzler and Terry Minnick for mayor.
They join Roy Miles and Joel Quance, who had filed in the first week of the filing period for city council spots.
There are three positions to be filled on the city council and the mayor's post.
The last-week filings mean all four incumbents are seeking re-election. City council incumbents who filed to keep their positions were Miles, Quance and Schmieg. Etzler is completing his first two year term as mayor.
The council seats are for four years and the mayor is up for election every two years.
The two-week period for candidates to file opened Tuesday, August 25 and ended on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
