CC Girls 5th at Moorhead
The Lady Cardinal runners started out the season this past Monday at the Shocky Strand Invitational at Moorhead, taking fifth place among eight teams.
Tak- ing the meet was the host, Moorhead with 46 points.
The Staples Motley varsity team for this first meet of 2009 consisted of senior
Kaytlin Roth, juniors Emma Pogreba and Emily
Furhman, sophomores Taylor Klimek and Jenna Ziegler, Freshman Lacey Fellman and eighth grader Mackenzie Holst.
The girls have a challenge of filling some holes left by last year's departing seniors, Naomi Landecker and Natasha Wenzel, but they look like they are doing a good job of it. Pogreba and Roth both finished in the top ten, placing seventh and eighth, respectively. The other five runners, Fuhrman, Holst, Klimek, Fellman and Ziegler also did a nice job, contributing to the fifth place finish.
The Cards will be running next Tuesday, at Wadena Deer Creek's Whitetail Run Invitational and will host the Cardinal Invitational at Pine Grove Park, starting at 10 a.m. Sept . 12.
