Damaged by fire Most everything at the Lin Club in Cushing is covered with soot, following a fire that broke out in the basement of the supper club Aug. 24. Owner Bob Boyd and Manager Peggy Kloeckl have been trying to salvage what they can and clean equipment that's worth saving. They hope to re-open in approximately two months. Just two months after it opened for business, a fire in the basement of the Lin Club has temporarily closed the supper club down.

"I was going to open the bar up Monday morning (Aug. 24) and discovered it was full of smoke," said Bob Boyd, owner of the establishment located along Old Hwy 10 in Cushing.

Boyd called 911 and the fire department arrived about 20 minutes later.

According to Boyd, the fire marshal, insurance inspector and the Scandia Valley Fire Chief (Steve Zahler) have determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.

Most of the damage was contained to the basement; but there are signs of the Aug. 24 fire throughout the entire restaurant.

"There is smoke damage all the way up to the attic; it's ruined a lot of the floor in the dining room; and it's just a plain mess," Boyd said.

Peggy Kloeckl, manager of the Lin Club, has been busy cleaning furniture and restaurant equipment that has been brought outside.

"There is soot over everything,"

Kloeckl said. "You have to throw your

clothes away at the end of each day because they reek of smoke," she added.

Yes, it's been discouraging, Kloeckl said. "We had a big baptism celebration that was booked for this weekend; and a big Labor Day bash with a great band lined up...all cancelled."

Boyd, who also builds houses, did much of the work on the recently remodeled Lin Club.

"I'll just have to get back in there as I find the time," he said. "We're hoping to have this place re-opened in another two months or so."
