Inspired by her Kentucky roots, Kristi Morris writes and sings about her life growing up on a farm
in a family of twelve. Her
music is best described as "country-mountain-Americana
roots-folk rock". She says that she is a country singer with mountain influence, a country mountain fusion.
Her mom (Hootie) and her dad (Stub) still live on the family farm. Most of the kids learned ins t ruments like guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, steele guitar and drums and they all sang. "Singing was as natural as talking in my family," said Morris, "and
sometimes when I think back, I feel like my young life growing up on the farm in Kentucky was one big musical. All of us girls would be doing the after supper dishes and just break into song."
Kristi Morris has three CDs currently available. She has been published by Criterion Music in Nashville and her novelty song Garage Sale is featured on HGTV's "The Endless Yard Sale."
The Music in the Park series is funded by the Staples Host Lions Club. The Series is organized by the Staples Motley Area Arts Council, with the assistance of the Staples Motley Public Schools and the City of Staples.
