Why the whistle blows
I was sorry to hear of the accident on the railroad tracks last week. There will be more when the "Quiet Zone" goes into effect.
People complained because the train whistles interrupted their sleep. When the accidents happen (and they will), because the victims didn't see the train, I'll bet their sleep will be interrupted again by these same people, not because the whistles were blowing, but because they weren't.
Believe it or not the train whistles are there for a reason.
