Families are invited to participate in a weekend of outdoor skills fun during the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Family Outdoor Weekend Aug. 8-9 at the Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center near Hackensack.

The event includes classes on climbing, shooting, archery, orienteering and fishing.

This event is a great way for families to learn beginning skills without having to purchase equipment.

Indoor lodging and meals are provided on site. There is a cost for this event. Registration includes lodging, meals, equipment and instruction. Scholarships, made possible by The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Pheasants Forever, are available.
