PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Staples will conduct a public hearing on Monday, July 20, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the Staples Government Center located at 611 Iowa Avenue NE, Staples at which it will receive public input, consider, and make a recommendation to the City Council regarding an ordinance to amend the zoning ordinance by creating a business corridor overlay district and establishing standards for businesses located within the new district. The regulations establish new standards related to the exterior of businesses including regulations on design standards, building materials, architectural elements, landscaping, lighting, utilities, and loading areas for properties zoned B-1 (Business District) located north of the BNSF Railroad tracks and south of Third Avenue. All interested persons may appear and be heard at the public hearing or may file written comments with the City Clerk before the hearing. Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. the Todd County Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing in the Commissioners Board Room, Main Street Gov't Center, 347 Central Ave, Long Prairie, Minnesota to consider the following applications:

Variance to construct a 26x26 ft and 20x18.4 ft additions and a 20x18 ft deck to the back and side of the existing cabin. Addition will be 50 feet from the lake, deck will be 30 feet from the lake. Required setback is 75 feet and Shore Impact Zone is from the lake 37.5 ft back.

Variance to allow this parcel of land, which was developed without platting be considered a buildable lot. Lot is 2.4 acres which exceeds the minimum 40,000 sq feet size, lot depth exceed minimum requirements, variance is needed for frontage along the lake which is 87.5 feet instead of the required 150 feet and less than 66% of today's standards. If approved, applicant will need to apply for a plat. This variance was denied at the April 23, 2009 hearing but can be reheard because the denial came from a tied vote.
