A corner of the Staples Community Center and much of Centennial Auditorium are just specks when viewed from the height of the Sacred Heart Church steeple and cross. Adam and Byran Becker of Becker and Sons Construction on Monday painted the cross, which requires an automotive paint. Becker and Sons is doing the roofing and other repairs on the church. (Photo for the Staples World by Adam Becker) Lofty perch In the photo at right, Adam Becker, standing on the left, and Father Scott Wittkop posed for the camera from a lofty perch next to the cross at the top of the Sacred Heart Church in Staples. Becker, whose firm is refurbishing the cross and replacing shingles, had taken a Staples World camera with him to get photos from the top of the cross. They are using a Hy-Lift machine capable of reaching the top of the cross about 130 feet off the ground. (Staples World photo by Dawn Schimpp Timbs) |
