Staples Motley American Legion squad is 4-0

The Legion team in their first week won two over Parkers Prairie, notched a 6-4 win over Bertha-Hewitt and a 17-0 win in six innings over Cass Lake.

On Monday, June 8, the Legion won 6-4 over B-H behind the pitching of Gunner Johnson, who came on in relief of Devin Becker. Trevor Ness and Johnson got five of the 10 hits for the Legion, with Ness getting a triple and Johnson a double.

On Wednesday, June 10, Staples Motley won two games at Parkers Prairie, 4-1 in the first game and 20-5 in the second.

Tyler Jenniges was the winning pitcher in the first game, going five innings and giving up just one hit.

Alex Jansson went 2 for 3 at the plate, getting one RBI.

In the second game, Dylan Shequen pitched five innings, for the 20-5 win. Shequen, Trevor Ness and Ryan Carter each had two hits as the Legion pounded out 13 hits, including two home runs for Ness.

On Monday, June 15, Staple Motley defeated Cass Lake 17-1 in six innings.

Alex Jansson was the winning pitcher, getting eight strikeouts and giving up only one hit. Trevor Ness pitched one inning
