Edna Dougherty
Edna Evelyn Dougherty, 89, of Minneapolis, died, June 4, 2009, Augustana Nursing Home Home in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 at Sacred Heart Church in Staples. Burial will be in Moran Township Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Edna was born February 21, 1920 in Philbrook to Matthew and Thelma (Schmidt) Steindel. She went to school in Philbrook and then attended school in Chicago.
She married Charles Garetson and later Emmett Dougherty. She lived in Philbrook on the family farm and then moved to Minneapolis. She worked as a nanny for many years. She loved history and keeping family journals.
Edna is survived by one daughter, Gloria (Vance) Heideman of Mound; two sons, Dean Garetson of Minneapolis; Clifford (Debbie) Dougherty of Lakeville; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, one brother, Joseph (Pat) Steindel of Coon Rapids; one sister, Kaye (Al) Stack of Petaluma, Calif.; neices, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson-in-law, one grandson and one nephew.
