Beth Maxine Powell

Beth Maxine Powell, 84, of Walker, died June 16, 2009 at May Creek Senior Living Center in Walker.

Memorial services will be held June 20, at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Walker, with Pastor John Dainsberg officiating.

Arrangements are with the Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home of Walker.

Beth was born at home July 6, 1924 in Langor Township, NW of Blackduck to Dwight and Mary (Reeder) Killmer. She granduated from Blackduck High School and moved to the Twin Cities. On March 8, 1946 she married Danvy Powell in Bemidji. They spent winters working in logging camps and summers on a farm west of Kelliher, later moving into town. Beth also had various jobs outside the home. 

She enjoyed fishing, knitting, sewing, reading, playing cards, working on uzzles, gardening and Minnesota Twins baseball games. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #225 in Forest Lake.

Beth is survived by three daughters, Sandra (William) Smith; Janet (Gordy) Jones; Rose Johnson; one son, Dwight Gilbert (Dixie) Powell; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one sister, Wanda (Gordy) Langerak; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Gladys and Lorraine; two brothers, Harland and Floyd; two sons-in-law, Robert Bensch and Gary Johnson.
