Lloyd Otteson
Lloyd Kermit Otteson, 83, of Staples, died May 17, 2009 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.
A memorial service was held May 20, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Rev. Steve Sveom offi- ciating. Burial with honors was in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Lloyd was born Sept. 9, 1925 in Evan to Charles and Marie (Jensen) Otteson. Lloyd attended school and farmed with his dad in Nevis until 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army during WW II. After serving three years for his country, he married Teresa Kruse on Feb. 18, 1949. They moved to a farm in Staples farming with his parents and also working as a mechanic for Phillip 66 and Staples High School. When Lloyd retired, he worked for Green Thumb at the Central Lakes College for 13 years.
He enjoyed coaching the girls softball team for 18 years, bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, playing cards, listening to Big Band music while on a Sunday drive with his wife. He also enjoyed berry picking, gardening and looked forward to going up to the lake by Park Rapids each summer with family.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, two daughters, Judy (Tom) Hall; Pam Otteson; three sons, Rick (Deb) Otteson; Craig (Sandy) Otteson; Jim (Mary Jo) Otteson; two daughters-inlaw, Toni Otteson and Kim (John) Riewer, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two German granddaughters, Alice Cholewa and Zoe Brossy; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Steven, Gary, Brian; one grandson, one great-grandson, two brothers, Busker and Jimmy.
