Sixty-two students heading for post secondary education were awarded $79,500 in scholarships Wednesday, May 13, at the Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars Award Program.

Roger Houselog, president of the organization, served as master of ceremonies for the annual event.

Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships through earnings from their investments and fund raisers they conduct such as the annual auction on Martin Luther King Day in January. The organization also serves as a conduit for scholarships from a variety of scholarship funds, as well as civic and service groups.
