The Staples Motley Cardinal boys golf team completed a week with two meets with first place finishes in both events

The Cards on M o n d ay, M ay 1 1 had three players among the four lowest scores to win a 10 team meet hosted by Nevis High School at the Bear's Den course near Park Rapids.

Zach Israelson and Michael Strain led the Cardinal boys with 73's, Nick Forsberg followed with a 74 and Travis Myers added an 80 for total of 303. Second place Nevis finished at 325.

Rounding out the Cardinal squad were Tanner Roberts with an 83 and Derek DeYonge 94.

Playing May 6 at Deacon's Lodge hosted by Brainerd, Staples Motley's boys had four players in the top ten All Tournament team, a feat that helped them to a 312 score.

Nick Forsberg shot a 75 for medalist honors, easing past Brainerd's Sean Halverson in a playoff. Zach Israelson and Tanner Roberts were among four players at 78, while Michael Strain finished at 81.

Travis Myers had a 87 and Derek DeYonge 106.

Brainerd was second at 322 while Bemidji was third at 328. Golf results
