Highway 210 project start delayed a week
A Highway 210 project from Staples to Hewitt that was to start May 4 was moved back one week to begin May 11.
Motorists should plan for delays caused by road work underway on a 15-mile stretch of Highway 210, from Hewitt to Dakota Avenue in Staples.
The project is now tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11.
This work includes:
• Mill and overlay a new blacktop road surface, including shoulders and turn lanes
• Repair culverts
• Construct a new right turn lane at 193rd Avenue, six miles east of Hewitt
• Construct a westbound right turn lane at Todd County Highway 21, west of Staples
During the project, traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the work zone, controlled by a pilot car and flaggers. All work will be done during daylight hours.
Widseth Smith Nolting of Baxter is administering the construction contract for this $2.3 million project with Anderson Brothers Construction of Brainerd the prime contractor.
Work is expected to be complete by the early July, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, work began on Monday of this week on a Highway 10 project from- Staples to Wadena. That project will also take place over much of the first half of the summer, with motorists likely to experince some delays with lane closures and other construction zone limitations.
HIghway 10 is also a mill and overlay project, with extension of turn lanes and other work also involved.
