Miriam Watland
Miriam Juanita Watland of Staples, died April 14, 2009 at Lakewood Health System in Staples.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
Miriam was born May 17, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia, to William and Helen (Crigger) McDonald. As an adult she lived in various cities including Sacramento, Fullerton and Vallejo, Calif., Browerville, Clarissa, and Staples. While in Staples she worked a variety of jobs including the Mary Rondorf Home, the VFW and lawn care service.
Miriam was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed fishing, Bingo, blueberry picking, gardening, canning, going to the Casino sewing and other crafts, embroidery work, making doll clothes, crocheting, quilting projects, volunteering, ceramics and painting. But most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Juanita is survived by five children, Kim (Eric) Roggenkamp, of Bluffton; Pattie Anderson (Ruby Felton) of Amber, Okla.; Robbyn Watland (Dan Anderson) of Staples; Jackie Woon Jr./Garbutt of Texas, Bruce E. Wegner Jr. in the Merchant Marines; and Desiree O'Brien, an adopted daughter; eight grandchildren, one brother, Jim Mc- Donald of Calif.; two sisters, Linda (Joe) Eidsmoe of Okla.; and Janet of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three children; one brother, Billy; two sisters, Jean, and Delores; husbands, Jackson Woon, Bruce Wegner Sr., and Norman Watland.
