Free bicycle helmets at "Helmets Worth Wearing"

For it's sixth year, the Lakewood Health System Foundation will distribute free bicycle helmets to area children during the annual event "Helmets Worth Wearing.

The program kicks off on Saturday, May 2 and continues through Friday, May 8.

Children of all ages will be properly fitted and given a free helmet along with instruction on the importance of wearing a helmet during activities like riding bike, roller skating and skateboarding.

To help prevent such injuries, the foundation

gave 550 helmets to area children during last year's "Helmets Worth Wearing" clinics.

Clinic locations, dates and times for this year are

as follows:

o Saturday, May 2: 10 a.m. - noon, LHS Senior Campus

o Monday, May 4: 3 - 5 p.m. LHS Eagle Bend Clinic

o Tuesday, May 5: 3 - 5 p.m., LHS Motley Clinic

o Wednesday, May 6: 3 - 5 p.m., Verndale Fire Hall

o Thursday, May 7: 3 - 5 p.m. LHS Browerville Clinic

o Friday, May 8: 3 - 5 p.m. LHS Pillager Clinic.
