Two arrested after Nimrod standoff
Daniel Lee Hansen Two people wanted for probation violations got an extended stay in the Wadena County Jail following a short standoff Thursday, April 2 near Nimrod.
Wadena County Sheriff's Deputies went to the Richard and Judith Hanson residence last Thursday on Highway 227 in Nimrod seeking to arrest Daniel Lee Hanson, 48, and Robin Clara Peterson, 45, both having outstanding warrants on probation violations
Sheriff Michael D. Carr said deputies had learned that both parties had been present at the residence earlier in the week due to a call on a domestic dispute between Daniel and his brother.
Deputies located Hanson and Peterson in a locked RV in the front yard. While deputies attempted to get both parties to come out of the locked RV, Dan Hanson had made threats towards the deputies that he would shoot them if they tried to come in and get him from the RV.
Sheriff Carr said the Wadena/Hubbard County SWAT team was called to the scene at this time. Chief Deputy Bill Cross negotiated with Hanson for approximately 35 minutes before he gave himself up without further incident.
Robin Clara Peterson Carr said that both Hanson and Peterson were placed under arrest and transported to the Wadena County Jail for their warrants. Reports have been sent to the county attorney's office for additional charges on this incident. No weapons were located in the RV and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found by deputies in the RV.
Assisting the Wadena County Sheriff's Office at the scene was the Menahga Police Department.
