Wayne Milton Johnson, 55, of Moorhead, died March 14, 2009, at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

A memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, April 4, 2009, from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home, Staples.

Wayne was born Nov. 2, 1953, in Wadena, to George L. and Dolores (Chapin) Johnson. He graduated from Staples High School in 1971. He enlisted in the United States Army on Oct. 15, 1971. Following his tour of duty he returned to Minnesota and went to work for Bernie's Off Sale Wine and Liquor Store in Moorhead, and then for MinnKota Recycling in Fargo.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Dolores Johnson of Staples; two brothers, Richard (Tanya Sigred) Johnson of Lawton, Okla., and Eugene (Michelle Serrault) Johnson of Rochester; two sisters, Kathy (Gary) McGillivray of Anoka; Doris (Darrell) Nelson of Baudette; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and one uncle, Burl Chapin.
