REMINISCENCES: In response to Kathy Odden's request for the name of the drive-in restaurant that used to be located approximately where the Faith Lutheran Church is now, I know of two different names of that business. In 1954 and for some years after, it was the "East End Drive In." Not for certain though, is the belief
that Ozzie Anglin was the
owner. Later he built the "Frost-Top" drive in on the
west end of town.
In the summer of 1963 and 1964, I worked for Mrs. George (Millie) Pelawa at the drive-in on the east end when it was called "The Parkway Drive-In." My pay was 50 cents per hour plus tips. A few years later it was under ownership or management of Lila Perfetti but I am uncertain if she changed the name of the establishment.
I hope this helps. The questions brought about a memory of a poster that hung on the outside wall of the drive-in. It was for a concert by a country music newcomer at the Detroit Lakes Armory - Loretta Lynn. The years are beginning to stack up like the snow outside my window…
