      A group of women meet twice a month at the Staples High Rise to do various service projects. Led by Donna Lee (second from left), the group began last Oct., with the goal of "giving back to the community. Yvonne Dickman came up with the idea," Donna said.

Looking Back
      25 Years Ago - 1984 The Rotary Art and Craft Show was well-attended, with close to a thousand persons viewing the exhibits during the two-day event. There were app roxi- mat e ly 4 4 9 items on Hoemberg display. One of the several Mike Matanich's pieces on display was a grim looking bust of a Viking carved from driftwood.

Food collection exercise
      While working on their Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge, Boy Scouts of Troop 61 took part in an emergency service project. As a practice drill the Scouts were to see how much food they would be able to collect for the Motley Food Shelf in one hour. This would prepare them in case of an actual emergency of this type.

      SECO 2009, one of the largest optometry events in the world, was held at the Georgia Worlds Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, in early March. "Eyeway to the Future" was this year's theme for SECO 2009.
