Knowledge Bowl teams

Staples World photo by Tom Crawford Staples Motley was represented this week in Sub Section Knowledge Bowl competition in Brainerd by two KB teams. The E to the X team (front row, from left) includes Jake Riese, Alek Paskewitz, Joe Fink, Kaytlin Roth and Gemma Shaffer. The Seven Factorial team (back row, from left) included Jenna Nypan, Jake Johnson, Megan Weyer, Paige Bendson and (not pictured) Orin Black. Don Sanda stood in as coach for Becky Hassleberg, whose ankle injury prevented her from taking her two teams to the sub section. They and a third SM squad (the Pterodactyls) have been competing in Knowledge Bowl round robin contests since January, with these two qualifying for the sub sections. They unfortunately did not survive past Monday's competition. "We knew all the answers," one of the KB kids said. "They just asked the wrong questions."
