2008 Fire Fighter of the Year

Staples World photo by Janice Winter Dennis Miller was selected as the 2008 Fire Fighter of the Year. The announcement and plaque presentation was made by Staples Fire Chief Scott Braith at the firemen's regular meeting held March 12. The Fire Fighter of the Year distinction is voted on by the members. Miller is wearing his "Fire Fighter of the Year" jacket.

He has served 22 years as a Staples Volunteer Fire Fighter; 14 of those years as the treasurer of the Staples Fire Department Relief Association, a job he passed on only last year. Miller has announced his retirement (with no plans of actually retiring, of course) from the department.
