2009-03-19 / Life Currents

Reportedly, 61 percent of women experience sleep difficulties during and after menopause, according to the National Sleep Foundation. Yet, effective and safe treatments are available for these difficulties. Lakewood Health System's Sleep Center provides consultation, testing, diagnosis and effective treatment options for anyone struggling with sleep problems, including those associated with menopause.

On March 24, the Women's Health team and Sleep Center at Lakewood Health System (LHS) are teaming up to bring you a free event entitled, "Healthbeat for Her: Sleep Soundly." This event, as part of LHS's 2009 speaking series, will offer tours of the Sleep Center and presentations by Kelly Thompson, Nurse Practitioner, LHS and Diane Byorkman, Respiratory Therapist, Precision Diagnostic Services.

Held at the LHS Senior Campus, the event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions, learn about the Sleep Center, discuss topics dealing with women and sleep and sign up for a chance to win a door prize worth $100. Refreshments provided.
