Three SMHS speakers win top spots at Walker
      Senior co-captain Gemma Shaffer earned the second place medal in Storytelling to lead the Staples Motley Speech Team award winners in the Walker Speech Tournament Saturday, March 6. Other Cardinal finalists were Emma Motl, who finished sixth in Original Oratory and Katie Stone, who finished seventh in discussion.

Arrow of Light awards
     Seven Webelos Scouts of Pack 61 received their Arrow of Light award on March 7. The Arrow of Light is the highest award a cub scout can earn. Six of the scouts went on to bridge into boy scouts.

      Jack Frost was inspired overnight Feb. 13 painting nature scenes throughout the area like the one above off Thunder Road looking north on the way to Dower Lake.       Spring truck weight restrictions began in the south, southeast and Twin Cities Metro frost zones at 12:01 a.m. on March 8. Police report
      Staples Police in the past week responded to a number of calls. In one incident, they assisted when called to a city residence where an unknown individual was pounding on the door, wanting to be let in. In another case, a hit and run damage incident came to light several hours after the fact.
