      Lakewood Health System will offer weekly Grief Support Group meetings every Tuesday, Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Fireside Room of the LHS Main Campus. Anyone dealing with an experience of loss - especially the loss of a loved one - is welcome and encouraged to attend.

      Muriel (Guth) Burgess, 1936 Staples High School graduate, stopped by the Staples World recently to look at the newspaper archives. She was a contributing reporter during the summer following her senior year; and Muriel was able to find a few of her stories written during that time. Muriel, 92, now lives in San Diego, Calif.

      25 Years Ago - 1985 School district bonds went higher than hoped…A combination of factors will force the Staples School District to pay more interest than had been anticipated. Last week the Board of Education accepted bids for nearly $2.4 million in bonds to finance the renovation of the former vocational school into a new high school.

      Lakewood Health System hosted its 7th annual Expectations Birthday Party July 22. The event celebrated babies born at the facility between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010. During the year of 2009, 375 babies were born at Lakewood Health System.
